Solve Each Quordle Grid

Our Wordle Solver handles any 5-letter Wordle-style grid. Use it once per Quordle grid — enter the green, yellow, and gray clue letters for that grid and get the best next guess.

What Is Quordle?

Quordle was created by Freddie Meyer in January 2022, inspired by the Wordle craze, and quickly became one of the most popular Wordle variants. It was later acquired by Merriam-Webster, which now hosts the official daily Quordle game.

The rules are simple — and brutal. You're solving four 5-letter words at the same time. Every guess you type appears on all four grids simultaneously. Each grid independently shows you green (right letter, right spot), yellow (right letter, wrong spot), and gray (letter not in that word) color feedback. You have just 9 guesses to crack all four.

Because every guess applies to all four grids, your word choices need to serve multiple purposes at once: solving a specific grid while also testing letters for the other three.

How to Use the Wordle Solver for Quordle

  1. Focus on one grid at a time. Open the Wordle Solver and enter the clues for Grid 1 — green letters in their positions, yellow letters and where they aren't, gray letters.
  2. Get word suggestions for Grid 1. The solver ranks candidates by how likely they are to be the answer based on your clues.
  3. Repeat for each remaining grid (Grid 2, 3, 4). Each grid has independent clues — run the solver separately with each grid's color feedback.
  4. Choose your next Quordle guess strategically. Pick a word that satisfies one nearly-solved grid while also probing common letters for the others.

Quordle Strategy: How to Win in 9 Guesses

Use 2 Opening Words

Don't waste your 9 guesses on one-at-a-time exploration. Use two high-information opening words (like CRANE + BOILS or AUDIO + STERN) to cover all 5 vowels and 6 common consonants in just 2 guesses.

Track Each Grid Separately

Keep a mental (or physical) note of what each grid has told you. A gray letter on Grid 1 might be yellow on Grid 2 — they're independent, so treat them that way.

Solve the Easiest Grid First

Once you have several green letters in one grid, dedicate a guess to solving it. Eliminating one grid reduces the mental load for the remaining 3.

Sacrifice Guesses for Information

In Quordle, an "information guess" (testing new letters across all grids) is often more valuable than a solving guess (trying to get one grid right). Use your middle guesses to gather data.

Avoid Repeating Gray Letters

Once a letter is gray on any grid, it's not in that word. Keep a list of all gray letters and avoid reusing them in guesses targeting that grid.

Use the Pattern Filter

If you know a word ends in -TION or starts with CR-, use our Word Finder's pattern filter (e.g., ????TION or CR???) to narrow down 5-letter candidates that fit your constraints.

Best Quordle Opening Words

The best Quordle openers are words that test the most common English letters. Using two complementary words in your first two guesses covers most of the alphabet's high-frequency letters:

CRANE + BOILS
Letters: C, R, A, N, E, B, O, I, L, S
Covers all 5 vowels and 5 of the most common consonants
AUDIO + STERN
Letters: A, U, D, I, O, S, T, E, R, N
All vowels plus common consonants S, T, R, N
STALE + CRONY
Letters: S, T, A, L, E, C, R, O, N, Y
Strong letter coverage for most Quordle boards
RAISE + CLOWN
Letters: R, A, I, S, E, C, L, O, W, N
Tests all vowels and 5 frequent consonants

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Quordle different from Wordle?

Wordle gives you one word to guess in 6 attempts. Quordle gives you four words simultaneously and 9 attempts. Every guess in Quordle applies to all four grids at once, making each guess more consequential — and the game significantly harder.

Is Quordle free to play?

Yes. The official Quordle game is free at merriam-webster.com/games/quordle. No account is required for the daily game. Practice mode is also free and unlimited.

Where can I play Quordle?

The official Quordle game is now hosted by Merriam-Webster at merriam-webster.com/games/quordle. The original quordle.com domain redirects there.

What word length does Quordle use?

All Quordle words are exactly 5 letters long, the same as standard Wordle. The words come from Merriam-Webster's word list, which favors common English words.

Are there similar games with more simultaneous words?

Yes — Octordle (8 words, 13 guesses), Sedecordle (16 words, 21 guesses), and Duotrigordle (32 words) all follow the same format with increasing difficulty. Our Wordle Solver works for any of these variants.
