Use the Solver →Common Word Endings to Look For First
If your letters contain any of these endings, try building the suffix first then fill in the front:
Most common verb ending. If you have I+N+G, try appending them.
RUNNING, PLAYING, HELPING
Extremely common noun ending for 6–10 letter words.
ACTION, MOTION, STATION
Past tense marker. Two tiles but unlocks hundreds of words.
PLAYED, HELPED, LANDED
Comparatives and agent nouns. Very frequent.
PLAYER, FASTER, HEATER
Adverb ending. If you have L+Y, try attaching to known adjectives.

Q almost always pairs with U. The only Q-without-U Scrabble words are QI, QAT, and a few others.
Z (10 pts)
ZA (pizza slang) and ZAP are great short plays. FUZZ, JAZZ, FIZZ all use double-Z.
X (8 pts)
X at the end of short words scores big. AX, OX, and EX are all two-letter X words.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best cheat for word scrambles?
Use SmartUnscramble — type your letters and get every valid word instantly. For solving without a tool, scan for -ING, -ED, -TION suffixes and identify consonant clusters like TH, SH, and ST that stay paired together.
What are common word scramble patterns?
The most useful patterns are vowel-consonant-vowel (ATE, ICE, AGE), common endings (-ING, -ED, -ER, -LY, -TION), and consonant clusters (TH, SH, CH, ST). Learning these lets you quickly spot valid words from scrambled letters.
What letters are hardest to unscramble?
Letter sets with many vowels or rare letters (Q, X, Z, J) are hardest to solve manually. Use SmartUnscramble for any difficult combination.
How do I solve a 7-letter word scramble?
For 7-letter words: first identify any -ING, -TION, or -MENT endings using 3–4 letters, then try to complete the front. If that fails, enter all 7 letters into SmartUnscramble and filter for length 7.
